Sümeyye Ekmekci

Sümeyye Ekmekci is Head of the general Grants Program at the Democracy and Media Foundation, an Amsterdam-based foundation committed to independent journalism and a strong and vigorous democracy. She directs DMF’s grantmaking program and is responsible for its development. Previously she worked as a program manager on DMF’s funding program against discrimination of Muslims and additionally focused on issues such as democratic renewal, rule of law and strategic litigation. She holds an MA in Middle Eastern Studies (hons) from Leiden University and a BSc in Anthropology from Utrecht University.
