About the Susan Treadwell Change Lab

We launched the Susan Treadwell Change Lab at the Ariadne Reconnect in Tbilisi, 2024.

The Lab, in honour of the late Susan Treadwell, is a learning journey for philanthropy practitioners who live at intersecting sites of oppression, along the lines of race, gender, class, disability, religion, sexuality, and other forms of identity.

Our first cohort is made up of organisations across Europe including: Paul Hamlin Foundation, Trust for London, The Rowan Trust, Justice Together Initiative, Mama Cash, Safe Passage Fund, Weaving Liberation and Democracy & Media Foundation.

Over the next year this cohort will be exploring intersectional and participatory funding approaches; creating cross border solidarity and sharing of learnings; and testing new models of practice and infrastructure for supporting movements. We are also resourcing participants financially both through individual funds and a collective fund for collective work.

We are building on the work of practitioners in abolitionist futures, reparative philanthropy, community power, international solidarity movements. We are inspired by ongoing collective explorations, such as Funders for Race Quality Alliance, Robert Bosch Stiftung’s funding towards intersectional practice, and Astraea Foundation’s efforts on gender justice and human rights, and many more.

If you’d like to find our more, offer additional resources and support towards the Lab, please get in touch with Tatevik who leads on this work.
